Carman and Company is the oldest Marine Surveying and Claims Adjusting firm in continuous operation in the Port of Baltimore.

In 1938 we were appointed as the Lloyd’s Agency, and in 1943 we were named Correspondent for the American Institute of Marine Underwriters in New York. We continue to serve both Memberships. Although we work primarily on the Underwriters’ side, we have always been available to represent other interested parties when there is no conflict of interest.

We have developed a list of highly qualified outside experts we can call in when their training and experience with a particular commodity is required in order to present the most detailed and useful condition reports to our Principals.
